Dedicated to: This mural is dedicated to the men and women who had the vision to form the Athletic Club in Sullivan on August 16, 1921. With private donations they purchased six acres of land for the purpose of building a baseball park.

Then on October 30, 1936 the Mayor of Sullivan and Board of Alderman voted to purchase the property from the Athletic Club for a city park. This park has become a most valuable asset for the city of Sullivan and surrounding area.

I have been fortunate for the past 70 years to live next door to the park, and to watch the many events, year after year, take place bringing the community together.
